Since his admission to practice in 2007, Stragen’s practice areas have included all aspects of Family and De Facto relationships law.
Prior to signing the Bar Roll in 2017, Stragen was a solicitor advocate in private practice from 2008 to 2014 and thereafter became a senior solicitor for the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing from 2015 to 2017.
Stragen is also a Nationally Accredited Mediator under the Australian Institute of Family Law Arbitrators and Mediators (AIFLAM). He accepts briefs in all litigation and alternative dispute resolution matters, as well as appointments to act as a mediator in family law property matters.

Whilst in private practice, Stragen has acted for clients in complex financial and property cases. Stragen has also assisted many clients with small to moderate asset pools in resolving matters quickly and efficiently. In addition to financial matters, Stragen has acted for many clients in complex parenting cases involving international relocation and non-parent applications in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.
Since signing the Bar Roll, Stragen has appeared in mediations, trials as well as in appeals for the Independent Children’s Lawyer.
Stragen is also a Nationally Accredited Mediator accepts briefs in all family law related litigation and alternative dispute resolution matters, and has a particular interest in trials for the Independent Children’s Lawyer and Coronial matters. Stragen also accepts appointments to act as a mediator in family law property matters.
