Our History

Holmes List commenced in October 1992 to service the influx of readers coming to the Bar.  Paul Holmes  identified a niche among the established Lists for an innovative List to meet the needs of younger, emerging Barristers.

The List commenced with 30 Barristers in its current location at 555 Lonsdale St - at the time, the only List outside of Williams St.  Thanks to desire and passion to develop new ideas for clerking and service delivery, the Holmes List has continued its steady growth. Its reputation is affirmed through its integrity, its stewardship and its longevity of service to the Barristers of Victoria.

An independently owned list, Holmes List maintains continuity of management which ensures that the quality of service never diminishes.  The Assistant Clerks are long term appointees who pride themselves on their developed relationships with the barristers in their care.

Holmes List's calendar of social events and professional opportunities as well as charitable and community support, means they are much more than merely a mail collection and job service to the Barristers and Solicitiors they serve.
