Helen completed her Honours degree in Adelaide before undertaking her Articles of Clerkship at Victoria Legal Aid (VLA) in 1999. Following admission Helen worked at the Preston office of VLA before moving to the then Criminal Law Division in Melbourne. During her time at VLA Helen worked as a duty lawyer, Indictable Case-work Solicitor and Associate Public Defender.

 In 2004 Helen signed the bar roll and since then has practiced predominantly in crime. Her practice includes appearances in the County Court, Magistrates Court and Childrens Court. Helen has also appeared in Worksafe Prosecutions, Victims of Crime Applications, Council Prosecutions and Intervention Order applications.  

Helen has built a practice around her ability to effectively communicate and advocate for clients from a range of backgrounds and with a range of issues.

For many years Helen has trained support workers in court skills and advocacy, she currently instructs at the Leo Cussen Institute and she is a member of the Criminal Bar and Childrens Court Bar Associations.
