Matthew has over 18 years of experience in the legal system, including work as a Barrister, Assistant Barristers' Clerk and as a County and Magistrates’ Court Registrar.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from Deakin University in 2007, and signed the Bar Roll in 2008.

His career in the courts began in 1997. As a court registrar, he held numerous positions in the Supreme, County and Magistrates' Courts of Victoria.

Prior to coming to the Bar he worked as an Assistant Barristers' Clerk for six years.

As a Barrister, he appears on a daily basis in Criminal and Intervention Order proceedings in Metropolitan Melbourne and Country Victorian courts.
