Rabea is an experienced advocate. She has prosecuted and defended serious crimes in Victoria and NSW. Rabea accepts briefs in criminal, quasi-criminal, public and administrative law. She also accepts briefs in other areas of law that intersect with criminal law.

Rabea has experience appearing in pleas, appeals, committal hearings and summary hearings in the Children’s, Magistrates' and County Courts and their NSW equivalents, as well as bail applications at all levels of the court hierarchy. She has also appeared in therapeutic jurisdictions such as the Drug Court, the Neighbourhood Justice Centre and the Koori Court.

From 2009 to 2016, Rabea worked at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (NSW). Rabea regularly appeared as a senior advocate in contested criminal matters, and instructed in jury trials involving complex evidentiary questions. For example, the trial of Honeysett v R [2014] HCA 29 (expert evidence) and Doyle v R [2014] NSWCCA 4 (tendency and coincidence evidence).

In Victoria, Rabea worked as a criminal defence lawyer with the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service, appearing in courts throughout Victoria.  Rabea also received Cultural Awareness Training from the Koorie Heritage Trust. 

Rabea was a Senior Lawyer at IBAC. She regularly appeared as Counsel Assisting in private examinations relating to public sector corruption and police misconduct. She also appeared for IBAC in prosecutions and warrant applications in the Magistrates’ and Supreme Courts, and the AAT.

Immediately prior to joining the Bar, Rabea worked as a Senior Advocate with the Office of Public Prosecutions in Melbourne. 

Rabea has a particular interest in Counter-Terrorism Law. She was a contributing editor to the publication, "Anti-Terrorism Laws: ASIO, the Police and You’” (4th Edition, 2017.) Rabea also appeared before the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security in public hearings for the Counter-Terrorism Legislation Amendment Bill (No.1) 2015 and the Review of the Criminal Code Amendment (High Risk Terrorist Offenders) Bill 2016.
