Tahlia accepts briefs to appear and advise in all areas of family law, intervention orders and disciplinary proceedings. 

Tahlia appears regularly in the Family Court and Federal Circuit Court and at mediations, in respect of parenting and property proceedings. She appears in both final and interim defended hearings in the Family Court and Federal Circuit Court, appearing on behalf of both individual parties and on behalf of the Independent Children's Lawyer. 

With a keen interest and experience in written advocacy, Tahlia regularly provides complex advice and drafts pleadings and affidavits as required in the Family Law jurisdiction. Tahlia has a particular interest in change of name applications, having appeared in both the Federal Circuit Court, Family Court and County in respect of such applications.  

Tahlia lectures in Family Law, having recently been appointed as adjunct lecturer in charge at the Australian Catholic University. She previously lectured in criminal procedure. 

Tahlia regularly accepts and appears in regional circuit sittings of the Federal Circuit Court and regularly provides advice in respect of parenting and property proceedings. 

Whilst Tahlia is currently practicing exclusively in Family law she has extensive experience as an advocate, having also appeared in the Magistrates Court, County Court, Supreme Court and Coroners Court in Victoria in matters relating to Family Violence and Criminal proceedings.

Prior to signing the Bar roll Tahlia was appointed as Associate to His Honour Judge Michael Tinney at the County Court of Victoria. There she gained practical experience in the criminal jurisdiction, including complex trials, pleas and appeals.   

Before coming to the Bar, Tahlia worked as a lawyer at Galbally and O’Bryan. She appeared as an instructing solicitor in a complex and long running terrorism trial proceeding before the Supreme Court, instructing Senior and Junior Counsel.

Tahlia is a member of the Family Law Bar Association and the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia.

Tahlia has a passion for and commitment to social justice. She previously volunteered at the Fitzroy Legal Service assisting with family law and criminal law proceedings. 

Tahlia read with Christopher Carr SC. Her senior mentors are Richard Maidment QC and Tim North SC.
