Profile

Heather comes to the Bar with extensive experience in criminal law in Victoria, and Western Australia. Heather became an Accredited Specialist in Criminal Law with the Law Institute of Victoria in 2018.

Heather accepts briefs in summary and indictable crime, and quasi-criminal matters including intervention orders, in all metropolitan and regional courts in Victoria.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Heather practiced as a Solicitor Advocate at Leanne Warren & Associates and David Barrese & Associates. In these roles, Heather had carriage of a large volume of indictable crime matters including murder, sex offences and armed robbery. Heather also had carriage of, and regularly appeared in, summary matters including assaults, burglary, drugs, and sex offences. Heather has appeared regularly in committal hearings, contested hearings, bail applications and pleas in the Magistrates’ Court and in sentencing appeals, breach proceedings, pleas, and bail applications in the County Court. Heather has also instructed in both County Court and Supreme Court trials and applications under the Serious Sex Offenders (Detention and Supervision) Act. Heather has also assisted counsel with drafting written cases for the Court of Appeal. 

Heather also practised as a Solicitor Advocate in Western Australia for close to three years, appearing in court daily, across all metropolitan and regional courts including complex contested hearings for glassing/assault, drugs and burglary, plea hearings and appearing as junior advocate in the Court of Appeal.

Heather also gained regulatory experience working at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) for just over three years, in Western Australia and Victoria. At ASIC, Heather's work focussed on market misconduct including insider trading and market manipulation, as well as money laundering and fraud. 

Heather is reading with Matthew Page and her senior mentor is Dermot Dann QC.
